This was my first trip to the southern Oregon coast since picking up photography in 2010, and was meant to be more of a "recon" mission, than anything else.
I was hoping to capture some images of clouds and massive sea stacks reflecting in the incoming and outgoing tides. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate - it was clear and cold the entire 3-days. As such, I decided to set up in the surf for some slow exposure photography.
What I find most fascinating about shooting around coastal waters, is that every incoming wave presents itself in a unique and beautiful way. Regardless of whether or not I come away with what I would consider a "great image", the hypnotizing effect of the sea is worth every minute, of every hour spent in it's presence.
In capturing this image, I must have shot 20-30 exposures, hoping to strike a nice balance of water wrapping itself around the rock and water returning back to sea; getting a nice sunset as a backdrop, was a bonus !
