Cape Disappointment is located in the Southwest corner of Washington State, on the North side of the great Columbia River. This location sees over 2,500 hours of fog a year, making it one of the foggiest places in the United States.

Cape Disappointment State Park is known for its dangerous rip currents. The Long Beach Peninsula has claimed over 700 lives and is the resting place for nearly 2000 vessels. One might say it's rightfully earned it's nickname "The Graveyard of the Pacific."

A couple of times a year, you can catch 25-30 foot swells coming from the Pacific Ocean. These generally coincide with new and full moons. When the frequency between swells is optimum, it's not uncharacteristic to see waves collide, spewing water hundreds of feet into the air.
